The iconic Mewtwo is one of the most sought-after and powerful Legendaries in Pokémon GO, and rightfully so, boasting exceptionally strong stats and a versatile moveset.

Even though there are several Psychic-type Mega Evolutions and a vast number of Shadows, Mewtwo’s might is only beaten by its own Megas and Shadow, and the Mega Evolution and Shadow form of Alakazam. With Shadow Alakazam being extremely fragile, you would almost always prefer Mewtwo over it.

While it's obvious that Mewtwo is a phenomenal Psychic-type attacker, it learns a wide variety of non-STAB Charged Attacks in Pokémon GO that make this Legendary a viable attacker in those types, all thanks to its high ATK.

Psycho Cut and Psystrike (always worth an Elite Charged TM) is the combo you need, but it's also a great idea to unlock a second Charged Attack to make your Mewtwo more flexible in Raids.

Notably, Shadow Ball is a powerful tool to hit Ghost Pokémon (which it is also weak to), Ice Beam is superb against Dragon types, especially those double-weak to Ice, and Thunderbolt brings down those high Flyers as well as Water types.

Mewtwo is one of the best investments in Pokémon GO, and with two outstanding Mega Evolutions (particularly Mega Mewtwo Y), the value obtained from this cult figure has only risen!

Legendaries always shake up the meta, but the consistency that Mewtwo and its Mega Evolutions offer is unchallenged.

Also, if you have no idea on which Pokémon you should use your Bottle Cap on, then Mewtwo is one of the safest and most rewarding options.

Despite being a little fragile in the Ultra League, Mewtwo's superb moveset and coverage make it a legitimate threat in this format. What really works in its favor is that many of the Ultra League’s top threats are weak to Psychic and Ghost, including Tentacruel, Virizion, Shadow Nidoqueen, Annihilape, Primeape, and Skeledirge. Additionally, it's also able to take out Blastoise, Cobalion, Cresselia, Shadow Ampharos, and even Armored Mewtwo due to the pressure applied by its fast and hard-hitting moveset.

On the flip side, Bug, Dark, and Ghost type opponents are aplenty and meta-relevant. So, Mewtwo falls behind other Psychic types, including the bulkier Armored Mewtwo, when it comes to excelling in these battles.

It is a bit deadlier in the (0-0) shield scenario, taking out even Giratina Altered and Shadow Dusknoir in the face-off, but overall, its low bulk makes it less strong than you would expect Mewtwo to be.

🟣 Master League

With nothing to hold it back, Mewtwo is at its best in the Master League. But this “best” era has set a while back, with stronger Legendaries taking over this format. Be it the Origin Forme Dragons, the Necrozma Fusions, Black and White Kyurem, or the Crowned Legendaries from Galar, power creep has been brutal on Mewtwo.

Many of these Legendaries possess stronger moves than Psystrike and have better offensive coverage, making Mewtwo less dominant than it once was. It's not that Mewtwo is bad by any means, it can take down the mighty Eternatus easily, and also beat some core threats like Landorus Therian, Crowned Shield Zamazenta, Zacian Hero, and Dawn Wings Necrozma.

So while you can still have a go at it to create shield pressure on the opponent and even get a KO, it is outperformed by several Pokémon in today's meta.

Mega en Primal Raid-bonus –Mega Pokémon boosten de aanvalskracht van alle andere Pokémon tijdens Raid Battles met 10%.
