PvE-analyseIron Tail Heavy Slam Smack Down Meteor Beam Aggron is popular among the Pokémon GO community for being one of the top Raid battle party recommendations in the earlier days of the game. Even after ages since this Pokémon’s debut and the addition of new moves, Aggron is NOT an optimal counter in PvE battles. Keep it benched. ‼️
The addition of the powerful Meteor Beam didn't help Aggron cement a position for itself as a viable Rock-type Raid attacker. As a Steel type, it is also outclassed. In a nutshell, Aggron is a Pokémon that should be kept away from Raid battles.
A good DEF stat doesn't supplement the fact that Aggron has two double weaknesses (Fighting and Ground), both of which are common Gym attackers.

However, even with such an impressive showing, it loses more often than it wins, making it an underwhelming pick overall. Besides, Bastiodon does the Rock and Steel type job better anyday.
Aggron is not only better off in the Ultra League, it is also decent in this meta. Top threats like Cresselia, Giratina Altered, Guzzlord, Regidrago, Feraligatr, Drifblim, Tentacruel, Clefable, Cradily, Galarian Moltres, all fall to Aggron’s attacks, making it a formidable force to be reckoned with. That said, Galarian Stunfisk performs a similar role but better. More often than not, Aggron is not bad per se but it's quite outclassed.
