Eternatus is the strongest Dragon type in Pokémon GO, thanks to insane damage output of its signature Dynamax Cannon. Of course, getting a level 50 Eternatus will take an eternity due to its ridiculous power up costs but it's well worth the effort. 👍

When you consider every Pokémon in the game, Mega Rayquaza (with Dragging Tail and Dragon Ascent) remains unchallenged, closely followed by Crush Grip Shadow Regigigas and the eventual Mega Mewtwo Y. In fact, Poison Jab + Dynamax Cannon gives Eternatus its best DPS figures and the Dragon Tail variant trails behind Aura Sphere Mega Lucario.

However, these arguments are for the role of a generalist, and you'd rather use Eternatus as a Dragon-type attacker in Raids and Max Battles. But that's not all as Eternatus is also the overall beat Poison type in Pokémon GO, boasting an ideal moveset complemented by high DPS and TDO.

⚔️ Raids

Dynamax Cannon Eternatus boasts higher DPS and TDO than Breaking Swipe/Outrage Mega Rayquaza, making it the top Dragon Pokémon in the PvE meta. In fact, its output is considerably higher as well. That said, Mega Rayquaza offers a boost to all Dragon Pokémon in the Raid, including itself, often making it more valuable in large group Raid battles. Your best-case scenario is using both, which would be more than enough. 🐉

As a Poison type, Eternatus is just behind Mega Beedrill in DPS but has superior TDO, making it virtually the best in this category. Note that unlike many other Poison-type Pokémon, Eternatus takes neutral damage from Fairy-type moves (instead of resisting them) courtesy of its Dragon subtyping. As such, Eternatus isn't your best bet against Fairy Raid Bosses but it's excellent against Grass-type Raid Bosses. ‼️

🔮 Max Battles

If possible, you want to activate the Dynamax Cannon when fighting in Dynamax and Gigantamax Battles. Dynamax Cannon boosts the base power of all regular Max Moves from 250/300/350 (for each corresponding level) to 300/350/450, matching the damage of GMax moves. For GMax moves, it adds another 100 DMG, making it a whopping 550 DMG.

This is even better than Crowned Zacian’s 5% increase to Max Attack from 250/300/350 to just 262.5/315/367.5 Additionally, with its signature D-Max Cannon, Eternatus is the best Dragon-type attacker in Max Battles. Period.

Therefore, Eternatus is an invaluable addition in battles against Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon, offering significant boosts that make the battle easier along with its own powerful Max Move to flaunt.

Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect

Trainers can activate Dynamax Cannon's Adventure Effect by using 5,000 Stardust and 30 Eternatus Candy to temporarily boost their Pokémon's Max Moves by one level in Max Battles for 10 minutes.

Max Moves that are locked will temporarily be raised to Level 1.

Max Moves that have been fully trained to Level 3 will increase to Level 4 which will provide an outsized power relative to a standard level up.

Dynamax Cannon's Adventure Effect is not applicable to Zacian and Zamazenta (including their Crowned forms).

You can extend the timer for this Adventure Effect in increments of 10 minutes by using more Stardust and Eternatus Candy. The timer can be raised to 2 hours when you tap ‘Use,’ and you can tap it again to add more time, up to 24 hours in all.

Increases the base power of all Max Moves, for each corresponding level, from 250/300/350 to 300/350/450, matching the damage of GMax moves. It also adds a value of 100 to GMax Moves, dishing out 550 DMG.

🔵 Great League

Eternatus cannot participate in the Great League, its CP is too high.

🟡 Ultra League

Eternatus is a decent Pokémon in the Ultra League, where it loses a some shine due to its high ATK fitted in a CP capped format. Victories come against top Grass types like Venusaur and Virizion, the formidable Shadow Drapion, Shadow Dragonite, Ampharos, Golisopod, Dusknoir, Fighters like Annihilape and Pangoro, and even a premier Steel type like Cobalion.

Switching to Poison Jab doesn't make too much of a difference, with this avatar now gaining Fairies like Clefable and Galarian Weezing. However, core wins like Cobalion, Dusknoir, and Shadow Dragonite get sacrificed.

It can trouble your opponents appreciably but ultimately, there are better Poison and Dragon types for the job, with even Poison/Dragon type Dragalge faring better in the Ultra League.

🟣 Master League

Eternatus unleashes its true power in the Master League, with the Dragon Tail variant beating heavyweights like Black and White Kyurem, Zygarde Complete, Yvelta, Zamazenta Crowned Shield, Dawn Wings Necrozma, Kyogre, Melmetal, Ho-Oh, Dialga and Palkia Origin, Tapu Bulu, Landorus Therian, and Primarina. This is undoubtedly one of the most meta-defining additions to Pokémon GO.

While the Poison Jab variant is less potent overall, it beats Fairies like Xerneas, Zacian Hero, and Florges. However, it loses Melmetal, Zamazenta Crowned Shield, Dawn Wings Necrozma, Landorus Therian, and Dialga and Palkia Origin.

Eternatus is extremely potent as a finisher, where shields no longer hold play and it can use Dynamax Cannon freely. 80 DMG at 45 energy makes it a Drill Run/Fly/Sparkling Aria/Behemoth Bash clone, giving it high damage at relatively low energy. In this situation, it beats much of the meta except most Fairy, Ground, and Steel types. It still manages to take down Steel types like Dusk Mane Necrozma, Solgaleo, and Melmetal.
